What to know before getting started.

Stripe testing is held every month. To remain on track, students should attend class an average of at least twice per week, submit their completed To-Do List, and demonstrate knowledge of the curriculum required for their current rank.
Stripes recognize progress toward the next belt level. Belt testing takes place when the student has completed the required curriculum and is ready to advance.
Students are required to attend class a minimum of twice per week. Consistent attendance is necessary to stay on track for stripe and belt testing and to receive the full benefit of the program.
Regular training helps students retain their curriculum, strengthen their technique, improve physical conditioning, and continue progressing.
No. South Shore Tae Kwon Do does not require long-term membership contracts and does not charge registration or cancellation fees.
A minimum of 30 days’ notice is required when ending a membership.
We first invite prospective students and their parents or guardians to visit the school and observe a class.
This gives your family an opportunity to see the facility, observe the teaching environment, and understand how classes are structured. After the visit, we will discuss the most appropriate next step.
No prior martial arts experience is necessary. Beginners are welcome.
Students are taught the techniques, expectations, and curriculum appropriate for their age, experience, and belt level.
Contact sparring is an important part of the South Shore Tae Kwon Do curriculum, but students do not begin contact sparring automatically.
Before a student participates, Master Whitman will meet with the student and their parent or guardian to discuss the student’s readiness, expectations, safety, and the required sparring equipment.
Tae Kwon Do supports physical development while also teaching students skills and habits that can carry into school, work, family life, and the community.
